LDS systems can identify Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) comprising standard or non-standard energetic materials, including hard-to-detect liquid explosives and PETN. In airports, this capability is a life-saving mandatory requirement, implemented during:

Personnel inspection

Detection of explosive or drug residues on hands, clothing, handbags, and luggage. When used in conjunction with the LDS Bottled Liquid Scanner (BLS) to expedite passenger security inspection at airport, they can serve as a second-tier inspection layout for carry-on luggage. Typically, such systems provide a ”green, yellow or red” alert for effective security monitoring.

Baggage inspection

Dramatic improvement in detection probabilities during baggage screening. Their rapid processing rate enables high system throughput while reducing false positive indications. The systems can operate as stand-alone, hand-held or bench sensors or as an integral part of existing baggage screening, access control and biometric inspection systems.

Vehicle inspection

Integration in existing vehicle inspection and container screening arrays for enhanced detection probability and lower false-positive indications. While detecting explosive substances, edevices, and traces left on vehicles, shipping containers or baggage is the highest priority, the systems can also be employed for drug detection as a secondary role.
